More Bare Bottoms

Now here's a bum that does qualify as a work of art: Lucien Clergue's Habillée de lumière (2002). Clever lighting and a well-chosen angle create a fascinating image. I don't subscribe to the old-fashioned view that monochrome is arty, so I would have preferred it in colour; but it's still a good'un. This is one of the exhibits in Hidden, a photographic exhibition that explores the beauty of bums shot in various styles by different photographers. It opens in the exhibition hall of the Canal Foundation, Madrid, Spain, on 2 October 2007.
