Hildegard von Bingen
Modern feminists have created the myth that women were downtrodden sex slaves until Feminism arrived to save them. Complete cobblers. Take Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), a hugely creative talent: artist, author, counsellor, dramatist, linguist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, poet, political consultant, prophet, visionary and composer. She invented her own musical notation; so we can still enjoy the plainchants she wrote for her nuns almost a millennium ago. If you need to relax after a day's hassles, Hildegard's your girl. That she was a brainwashed Catholic severely cramped her thinking, but not her creativity. Downtrodden? Buy one of her CD's and listen to the truth (not the lyrics; the music itself).
