Animals in the News

Long-eared JerboaHave you seen this little cutie? And no, it isn't a fake photo. This is a long-eared jerboa, a rare, elusive, nocturnal insectivore on the IUCN Red List of species threatened with extinction. A team led by Dr Jonathan Baillie of the Zoological Society of London managed to film this shy little critter hopping about the Gobi Desert; the very first time it has been filmed, they believe. You can can watch the video on BBC News (title link). And have you heard about Coco the macaw in Patras, Greece? Coco faces a parking fine of £320 ($650) because his perch is illegally parked!
