Rockwell On Tour
Regular readers will know I'm a Norman Rockwell fan. This detail from Art Critic (1955) shows his sense of humour. While the earnest young art critic examines the portrait's pendant with his magnifying glass, the portrait smiles at him in a knowing and very saucy way! Terrific. This oil painting for The Saturday Evening Post is part of a major touring exhibition - American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell - which is being given its premiere at the Akron Art Museum, Ohio, until 3 February. If you live in the USA, it's a must. I'll leave you to track down its itinerary.

Following its presentation in Akron, the exhibition will travel to the Orlando Museum of Art, Florida (March 1, 2008 through May 26, 2008); the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia (November 8, 2008 through February 1, 2009); and the Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida (November 14, 2009 through February 7, 2010).
Thank you very much for that information. I'll post it as an update for people who don't read comments.
