Airbrushed Manhood

Royal Opera House - Rigoletto Poster detail (airbrushed version of 2001 photo)"Actor's manhood is airbrushed out" smirks BBC News. Whoops! Nasty. But what was his manhood doing on display in the first place? The "actor" in question - Juan Pablo Di Pace - posed naked during a photo shoot for the opera Rigoletto in 2001. Recently he found out that a doctored version of this photo would be used by the Royal Opera House to advertise its 2009 production of Rigoletto. Oi, gringo, where's my whatsit? demanded the artiste, miffed to see his talent belittled. To ... er ... cut a long story short ... the Royal Opera House has agreed to drop the offending poster. From an artistic viewpoint, I think this scene would have been more poignant with a nude - providing the actor didn't enjoy himself! - and those coy maroon add-on briefs look ham-fisted. But hey! Isn't it Rigoletto's daughter Gilda who gets snuffed? Gender-bender update? Couldn't find a soprano who looks good in the buff? This is the third poster hoo-ha in a month (CLICK, CLICK). Damned if you do; damned if you don't. But it's all good publicity.
