Robert Mileham

Robert Mileham - Swallow (2008)Here's another of Robert Mileham's excellent sculptures (see next post down), a sublime neoclassical figurine with a touch of Art Deco style about it: Swallow. This is the artist’s master in resin marble, 12 inches high. A limited edition of 9 bronzes are available - two sold already - for £1,500 each (CLICK). Interestingly this sculpture wasn't named after the bird, but after a swallow hole in Dorset, because the sculpture captured that feeling of elation the artist's older daughter used to feel when running down the slope. It reminds me of an elegant Bird Dance I saw a few years ago, performed by Asian schoolgirls with voluminous sleeves which looked like birds wings as they glided round with their arms extended.
