Emin: No Knickers?
Tracey Emin's knickers (next post down) reminded me of this gross image, not for the squeamish, let alone the artistic. It's the UK's Queen of Cloaca apparently without them, trying to stuff her ill-gotten gains into her bank account. This fuzzy snap, slightly I.C. cropped, is one of a set of Polaroids taken by Cerith Wyn Evans on 3/3/2000 for Ms Emin's show I've Got it All. Believe it or not, you can buy one of these "original artworks" from Julian Hartnoll Fine Art for a mere £925 each (title link). The ... er ... Emin person is now a Royal Academician! Isn't it time Her Majesty insisted that the "Royal" should be dropped from that pathetic anti-art joke The Royal Academy of Arts?

I wonder what incarnation of anti-anti-anti-art this is?..a rich and successful artist making fun at being rich and successful which makes her even more rich and succesful?!!...

Here's an idea: Tracy Emin goes to the bank and withdraws her entire savings in £ 1 notes and have 300 assistants glue them onto the outer surfaces of Tate Modern, this is an installation named "Dance Around the golden Calf"
- It's radical
- It's conceptual
- It's "shock art"
- It's a comment on capitalist society and materialism
It leaves Tracy poor as a church mouse but she did it all for Art and that's the important part, not?
or do positions in society exist that even iconoclastic anti-establishment artists won't care to tamper with?..
like being rich and successful.
