El Greco at Dulwich
As regular readers will know, the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London is celebrating its bicentenary this year with a Masterpiece a Month borrowed from other galleries. This month, from today to 8 May, it's the turn of El Greco's The Vision of Saint John loaned by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This is an unfinished Mannerist daub of superstitious nonsense with its top missing, so I doubt that even El Greco would count it as a masterpiece. And how did The Three Graces get in there? It's a mess. Still, if you're passing, you might feel the urge to pop in for a butchers.
