Kapoor's Leviathan

Anish Kapoor unveiled his latest monstrosity Leviathan in the Grand Palais, Paris, today and dedicated it to Ai Weiwei, whose detention by Chinese authorities he described as "barbaric". He suggested that art galleries and museums around the world should close for a day to protest against Weiwei's detention. Personally I'd like to see both Kapoor and Weiwei prosecuted under the Trades Description Act for falsely claiming their tosh is art. What is Tate Modern going to do with all those toxic Sunflower Seeds Weiwei dumped in the Turbine Hall? CLICK for a Telegraph slide show of Kapoor's rubbish.

I saw Kapoor's Sky Mirror in Manhattan and was mesmerised by it.

Then saw his recent exhibition in Hyde Park (including Sky Mirror) and thought the works were ruined by lousy presentation.

Hi, Judith

As you may know, Blogger has been going all silly for more than two days. When it finally got sorted out, it had lost your comment. So I've posted it above for you.

If I recall correctly, Kapoor's Sky Mirror was installed on MOMA's roof, surrounded by skyscrapers. That would have been impressive in a Hollywood kind of way. But in a park, reflecting trees, pathetic.

Take a look at the statues on my website. I'd like to see Kapoor copy any of them. He's not an artist; he's an engineer with delusions about art.
