Echo in New York

Jaume Plensa's elongated head of a 9-year-old girl is proving popular. She first popped up in the UK in 2009 on a slag heap from the Sutton Manor colliery, Merseyside. Her name then was Dream (CLICK). She next materialised in Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of a group of heads entitled In The Midst of Dreams (CLICK). Now she's looming over Madison Square Park, New York City. This time her name is Echo, from the myth of the Greek nymph who was punished for pride in her voice by being forced to repeat the words of others. This monumental sculpture was presented to the park by Madison Square Park Conservancy (title link).
