Sculpture in Aarhus
As it's piddling down in London, I thought it might be an idea to visit sunny Denmark for its second biennial exhibition of Sculpture by the Sea in Aarhus, an idea borrowed from Australia. This is a free public exhibition of 65 sculptures from across the world installed on the public lawns, beach and forests bordering Aarhus bay (title link). I'm afraid it shows what we all knew: that abstract sculpture has lost its way and has nowhere to go. CLICK for the Aarhus image gallery. I did find a few examples of figurative art. The top sculpture is Sea Pink (2011) by Marc Moser. To the left is Gangadhar Mahato's Inner Expression (2011). If you fancy a visit to Denmark, the show runs until 3 July.
