Missiles For Olympics!
In answer to a question by former Defence Secretary Liam Fox, the new Defence Secretary Philip Hammond has told Parliament that he is prepared to deploy ground-to-air missiles to protect the 2012 Olympic Games in London! That will add a hell of a lot to the Games carbon footprint. And the Yanks want to send 500 FBI agents to protect their team alone (title link). This is insane. Is there time to cancel the damned thing?

and to think cities bid for this dubious "honor"...
A nightmare with hassles at every step in any direction! And according to research, tourists avoid cities holding the Olympics. So the claim that the Olympics attracts tourists to the host nation is false.
As a Londoner, I'm being charged a local tax surcharge to finance this money-wasting project, whether I want it here or not.
And I don't!
