Generous Karzai
Afghan President Hamid Karzai is looking smug, because he pardoned a rape victim who was jailed for adultery, after she agreed to marry her rapist. Her name is Gulnaz. She was sentenced to two years in jail; but, when she had the cheek to appeal, another 10 years was added to her sentence. She gave birth to her daughter in prison. She admits she doesn't want to marry the man who raped her, but had no choice if she wanted to get out of prison. Why on earth are we risking the lives of British troops to support that corrupt, medieval, Islamic regime which runs Afghanistan? David, get us out! Fast!

The Western governments involved will waste billions in cash,thousands of lives...for a country which will end up as it's always been...a fundamentalist Moslem state...The stupidity of our leaders is stunning...
Absolutely. You'd have thought we would have learned our lesson by now. Afghans fought the British Raj. They defeated Soviet Russia, with a little help from the CIA. Now they're killing Americans, British and other foreign troops. The entire country is a Muslim slum devoted to honour killings. It's a mindset Western governments can't fathom.
