Leonardo Anatomist 2

From 4 May to 7 October The Queen's Gallery in Buckingham Palace will stage the largest ever exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci’s studies of the human body: Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomist. I previewed this exhibition in January (CLICK). Leonardo had intended to publish these drawings in a treatise on anatomy, but died before completing it. The scientific importance of his work was lost in a mass of private papers for almost 400 years. Today this work is among the Royal Collection's greatest treasures. Ninety of his anatomical drawings will be on show. This example is Recto: A cranium sectioned. Verso: A skull sectioned (1489). Admission prices are reasonable: adults £9.25, silver surfers £8.50.
