Another Monster

This is Nasser Azam's 12-metre-high bronze sculpture Athena, unveiled yesterday. What's that in real money? Tall. This obscene mess stands on a roundabout on the approach to London City Airport and may be seen from the air. Maybe it's designed to frighten off illegal immigrants. Bare breasts, fat thighs, puffy pubes and no hijab. I wonder what they'll make of that in East Ham? It was unveiled by Stephen Timms MP, who has supported the idea since its conception (CLICK). He clearly knows FA about art. Let's hope he paid for it out of his own pocket and didn't waste taxpayers' money on it.

If this is what the Olympic ticket holders are going to see when they get off of the planes then this isn't going to make British art look good. It's rubbish. Athena never looked so bad.
