Eric Sykes RIP
"Eric Sykes, 89, star of TV, stage and films, died peacefully this morning after a short illness," said Norma Farnes. "His family were with him" (CLICK). It seems incredible that Eric Sykes' career encompassed the BBC radio show Educating Archie in 1950 (top photo) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005 (side photo). His writing credits include The Goon Show, Variety Bandbox, The Frankie Howerd Radio Show and his prize-winning slapstick masterpiece The Plank (1967) which he also directed. The Plank derived from an episode of his hugely popular TV show Sykes and A... which co-starred Hattie Jacques. He will be missed. CLICK for The Telegraph slide show of his career.
