London Ice Festival

The London Ice Sculpting Festival returns to Canary Wharf from 11 to 13 January (CLICK). Teams from the UK, USA and Europe will sculpt blocks of ice to this year's themes The Wonders Of The Universe and Infinity. The festival may not be as spectacular as Harbin, but it will be above freezing and it's free. So why am I showing Sir Henry Raeburn's The Reverend Robert Walker Skating on Duddingston Loch (1790s)? It was the inspiration for Team Spirit, the UK team's entry by Jonathan Lloyd and Piers Griffin, which won the Singles Competition and the Public Choice Award 2012.
