Collecting Gauguin

From 20 June to 8 September the Courtauld Gallery in London will show Collecting Gauguin: Samuel Courtauld in the '20s (CLICK). Pioneering collector Samuel Courtauld built an extensive collection of French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings and established Paul Gauguin's reputation in the UK. Shown is Gauguin's Nevermore (O Taiti) from 1897, one of the major paintings in the exhibition, which also includes woodcuts from the Noa Noa series, archival material and one of only two sculptures ever created by the artists. Admission is the usual price to enter the gallery: £6 adults, £5 silver surfers.
Note: today is Gauguin's birthday 7 June 1848.
