Oshun

This photo caught my eye while I was dippimg into the latest offerings in London. It's from the Exotic Fruit Series, whatever that is. The Shinobare Studios in Hackney, London, is Re-introducing Oshun. Who? She's a Yoruba goddess, the Lady of the Rivers and Sweet Waters. As regular readers will know, I'm not into goddesses or gods. Their more deluded followers are a bloody nuisance. But this show might be interesting and it's free. It features a female collective using dance, visual arts and poetry to try to get across their confused philosophy. It's hosted by elephant-dung peddler Yinka Shinobare MBE and funded by Arts Council England, but don't let either of these facts put you off. It might be fun and it won't cost you anything to find out. There are also workshops and a concert. CLICK for details.
