John Moores Prize

The five artists shortlisted for this year's John Moores Painting Prize, worth £25,000 to the winner, have been named. BBC News has posted their shortlisted images (CLICK). The only one that appeals to me is Juliette Losq's Vinculum (2012), which has incredible depth perspective. It's enough to give you vertigo. She creates etchings of the overgrown exteriors of derelict buildings, then overlays them with watercolour paint. The winner will be announced in September. The exhibition of the top 50 entries opened today at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool (CLICK).
