Remembrance Note

This Remembrance Note from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Singapore, on a wreath laid on the Cenotaph in the former British colony, brings home the breadth of The Great War. All the fine talk of heroism and sacrifice doesn't convince me that this terrible war was anything but the incestuous lunacy of the crowned heads of Europe, all of whom were related to one another, They dragged their subjects and their colonies into carnage. Historians may seek silver linings in the dark clouds of war, but are their musings truly rational?
