John Smart

Here's another treat for those who admire the art of portrait miniaturists. From 25 November until 9 December Philip Mould & Company will be showing John Smart: A Genius Magnified at the Philip Mould Gallery, 29 Dover Street, London. This is a private collection on loan to the gallery of works by John Smart, one of the leading portrait miniaturists of the 18th Century. Forty-five of his portrait miniatures and drawings will be on display, spanning his whole career. Shown is his Portrait of a Lady with Pink Powdered Hair (1785). A new catalogue of his life and career - the first since 1964 - will be available to buy (CLICK).
