Manet's Spring £40m

At Christie's in New York, Edouard Manet's Spring (Study of Jeanne Demarsy) sold for $65 million (£40.6m) setting a new record for the artist at auction. The allegorical painting depicts Parisian actress Jeanne Demarsy. It has been owned by the same family for a century (CLICK). Bought by The J. Paul Getty Museum.
