MIRRORCITY

The Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre, is currently showing MIRRORCITY: London Artists on fiction and reality. This is a group show of artists in the old metropolis trying to come to terms with science fiction in a digital age. Groan! Shown is Anne Hardy's Suite, a diasec mounted c-type print (2012) which is rather pretty. The Southbank Centre's sententious mission statement is that it "passionately believes the arts have the power to transform lives. We also believe that the arts must be available to all of us - and this lies at the heart of all we do" which is a manifest load of bullshit when you clock the admission prices: £12 for adults, £10.90 for silver surfers (CLICK). I wouldn't risk a fiver on a pretentious art show trying to go digital.
