Freud's Letters

The family of poet and critic Stephen Spender (1909–1995) has put up for sale ten unpublished letters written by the teenage Lucian Freud to his friend. This letter from 1941 features a tearful self-portrait by Freud. They will be offered at Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Day Auction in London on 2 July with an estimate of £28,000 to £42,000.
