Thames Whale At Rest

Remember that 11-year-old female northern bottlenose whale that took a wrong turn up the River Thames last January and had half of London worrying about her? Her skeleton has been added to the Natural History Museum's national cetacean collection. Today, the museum opened a display of photographs that show how her bones were preserved for her new role as a scientific specimen. Aw!
