A Pagan UK Xmas
Come to think of it, what have trees draped in flashing balls with a fairy on top got to do with Xmas? Oh, that's a smiley. What has mistletoe - a pagan symbol - got to do with it? What have holly, robins, snowmen, stagecoaches, crackers, ghost stories, turkeys (an American import), stuffing, cranberry sauce, log fires, shopping, pressies, flaming puddings, mince pies, empty socks, bad TV shows, after dinner mints, Walt Disney (another US import) and cracking nuts got to do with it? What has any of this to do with a nice Jewish philosopher who met a sticky end in the Middle East two millennia ago? Church of England, kindly keep your hands off our pagan Xmas.
