London's Statues Threatened

Statue of Queen Boadicea, LondonWhatever happened to what we in the UK used to call the "Loony Left"? Answer: Tony Blair gagged them in order to make the Labour Party electable. Now that Tony's hold on power is weakening, the Loony Left is crawling out of the woodwork. Here's a perfect example. Colin Gill wants all the statues in central London to be removed, because they represent "enemies" of the People! He's co-authored a book on the subject: Topple the Mighty. Sounds like a bummer to me. This member of the Proletariat isn't buying it. I don't care whether Colin reckons Boadicea was a revolutionary heroine or a crush-the-serfs queen. It's the art that counts. Anyone who wants to demolish art is a vandal.

Dunno. What's outside the TUC building? Dog poop?

It's the symbolic Commie one with a big strong worker helping the small weak worker up of the floor!

You must remember this from back in the 60s and 70s when Lech Murray ruled the country!

After having knocked him down, I assume. "Gonna join the union now, bruvver?"
I wasn't blogging arts news in those days. How should I know what Len Murray's taste in sculpture was? All I know about the guy is that he put his name to a mint.

Felipe Fernandez-Armesto wants all new sculpture replaced by trees, see the Standard Newspaper 7th March 2008.

Aw, not another one. Mind you, I've seen some dire tripe made of old car tyres and scrap metal. I wouldn't mind seeing those replaced by trees.
