Barbed Wit: Italian Satire

Virgilio Retrosi - Armed Neutrality (1915)Thanks to ArtDaily (CLICK), I've just discovered a London gallery I didn't know existed: the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art at 39a Canonbury Square, N1. It opened in 1998, but as "modern" art isn't my thing it had escaped my attention. The subject of its latest exhibition, in collaboration with the Imperial War Museum, is cartoons for post cards: Barbed Wit: Italian Satire of the Great War, continuing until 18 March 2007. Cartoons! Now you're talking! There's no language barrier in Virgilio Retrosi's Armed Neutrality (1915). I've tweaked its gamma setting to brighten it.
