The Venice Biennale

Tracey Emin - Er.... (2007)Oh embarrassment! The 52nd Venice Biennale - the Art Olympics - opens today and guess who represents England: Tracey Emin! It's like entering Billy Bunter into the marathon and expecting him to win a gold medal. Judging by this exhibit, it looks as though Ms Emin has taken a leaf out of the book of that "artist" who paints tulips with his bum. Apparently it symbolizes child abuse and abortion. Oh yeah? Think with the Senses, Feel with the Mind; Art in the Present Tense is the pretentious slogan given to this year's international piffle. CLICK to be dismayed.

Is this equal opportunities groaning?

Sure, Dorothea, groan all you like. The Guardian art critic is certainly one who wouldn't notice the Emperor was in the nuddy. He'd say the Emperor's new clothes were fantastic.
