Bacon 'Triptych' Sale

The BBC is getting excited over the prospect of Francis Bacon's Triptych 1974-77 fetching a record price at Christie's London auction on 6 February. On BBC London News a Christie's spokeswoman wittered all sorts of tripe about this trio of ghastly paintings - not a true triptych - estimated to be worth £25 million. Only to philistines. I wouldn't want this dross as a gift. Imagine opening your Christmas wrapping paper to expose three hideous Bacon's! Frozen smile: "Er ... lovely ... thanks ... er ... just what I wanted." Rush outdoors: "Eeeeeeeeeeek!"
