Jolie Posters Tut Tut

Universal Pictures - Wanted Poster (2008)Talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted! The UK's toothless old fairy the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled that film posters for Angelina Jolie's movie Wanted were unsuitable to be seen by children. Bit late, ASA. Two months ago, when the movie was on release, the UK was plastered with Wanted posters and every sighted child in the country must have seen them. Now that Wanted is yesterday's news, the ASA says "Tut tut"! What's the point? Social acceptability aside, this poster is a fine work of art which follows a long tradition of posters and book covers showing actors or models brandishing handguns. In this case a golden girl holding a golden gun does push the boundaries of glamorising gun crime. Hence the complaints.
