Human Trafficking

Only a few weeks ago one of my blog visitors remarked on the high quality of the latest shop mannequins (above). We wondered when some third-rate hack of an artist would incorporate them into an art installation and lay claim to them as his own. Yesterday just such a work was unveiled at Lancaster House in London, the perpetrator Edward Saperia. Everything in the installation is manufactured: the mannequins, the framework, the wire mesh cage. All the alleged "artist" had to do was order the goods and direct a team of workers to assemble the thing. Art? No way. So it's a perfect choice for the next Turner Prize. Even Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino, who opened the display, didn't look impressed and carped that there were no children on display. Click the title link to view a BBC video of the opening ceremony.
