Jack Cardiff OBE
If you have the slightest interest in the art of cinematography, this documentary film is a must: CAMERAMAN: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff, presented by Modus Operandi Films and High Point Media Group. Born in England, his pioneering use of Technicolor for those greats of British cinema Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger won him his first Oscar® for Black Narcissus (1947). In 2001 he became the first cinematographer ever presented with an Honorary Oscar® for: “exceptional distinction in lifetime achievement; exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences; and for outstanding services to the Academy.” He died in 2009.
