The Spanish Line
Today The Courtauld Gallery in London opened The Spanish Line: Drawings from Ribera to Picasso, which runs until 15 January 2012 (title link). The Gallery's collection of Spanish drawings is one of the most important outside Spain. This new exhibition features 40 of the finest drawings by artists such as Ribera, Murillo and Goya as well as by lesser known artists. Many of these drawings have never been displayed before. Above is a red chalk drawing by Jusepe de Ribera (lo Spagnoletto) showing a man tied to a tree and a figure resting or mourning. Admission prices are those for the whole Gallery: £6 adults, £4.50 silver surfers.
