Audubon's Aviary

The New-York Historical Society is celebrating 150 years since it acquired all 474 watercolours by John James Audubon, which he published in his landmark four-volume book The Birds of America. Tomorrow the Society opens Audubon’s Aviary: Part I of the Complete Flock (CLICK). It has also published Audubon’s Aviary: The Original Watercolors for “The Birds of America”. This lavishly illustrated, award-winning book is priced at £52.50, but Amazon UK is offering it with free P&P in the UK for only £33.60. Every dentist's waiting room should have one. The author of the book and curator of the exhibition, Roberta J.M. Olson, spoke to the BBC. This informative video whips through Audubon's life and shows examples of his paintings as well as wildlife footage: CLICK.
