Rockwell Summer Hols

Norman Rockwell - The Muscleman (1941)School summer holidays are a great time to put on art exhibitions to draw in children as well as adults. In the USA, that means Norman Rockwell. His The Muscleman (1941) is a work of art that any age group can identify with. You don't need a long-winded and pretentious blurb to explain its meaning, its sense of humour or its psychological depth. It grabs you, as great art should. The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut, presents Picturing Health: Norman Rockwell and the Art of Illustration, from 7 July to 14 October 2007. Works by contemporary illustrators have been added to the Rockwell exhibits.
