Stolen Paintings Found
Two paintings stolen from Sao Paulo's Museum of Art last December - Picasso's Suzanne Bloch (1904) and Candido Portinari's The Coffee Worker (1939) - have been recovered by police in Sao Paulo and three arrests made. The paintings are undamaged. BBC News headlined this item "Stolen Picasso Found in Sao Paulo", as though the other painting, by a Brazilian artist, is unimportant. As always it promotes the big name regardless of artistic quality. This is how modern myths of artistic greatness are perpetuated by people who know nothing about art.
