Holocaust Art
Today the Imperial War Museum in London opened a new exhibition Unspeakable, which shows the Museum's collection of art created in response to the Holocaust. The liberation of Belsen in April 1945 confronted British war artists with the horrors of the Nazi death camps. Work by other artists - inmates and survivors -, such as Edith Birkin's A Camp of Twins: Auschwitz (1980-1982), have since been added to the collection. A powerful exhibition, not for the squeamish, Unspeakable continues until 31 August 2009, admission free. There are also free Gallery talks this weekend at noon and 3pm (title link).
