Star Wars Coins

The Pacific island of Niue has jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon with a set of coins featuring characters from the movies. Above are Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia and R2D2 and C3PO. The reverse of the coins feature HM Queen Elizabeth II, who is New Zealand's head of state and all Niueans are New Zealand citizens. These coins will be legal tender in Niue, although they are clearly aimed at the collectors market. Solid silver £2 coins cost an arm and a leg, but silver-plated ones cost £12.
