No Ski Snow

England isn't the only country to be hit by drought caused by an unusually warm and dry Autumn. In Switzerland and Austria, ski resorts are bemoaning a lack of snow. In Davos and St Moritz snow cannons have been used to open a few runs (title link). So, it looks as though British jet-setters might have to settle for a trip to South Kensington, London, where Christie's will be holding its 14th consecutive Ski Sale - the only dedicated ski sale in the world - on 25 January 2012. Prices for vintage ski posters range from £600 up to £20,000. The beautiful example above is Anton Christoffel's painting for the poster WINTER IN ST MORITZ, ENGADIN (1907).

If the travel industry would put up some cash for a prize, I'm sure artists would create more skiing posters like this one.
