Rolf Paints Jubilee

Earlier this evening I watched Rolf Paints ... The Diamond Jubilee. Amateur painter Anneka Rice and a team of 60 artists, both novice and professional, helped Rolf slap the paint around in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. So many different techniques were used, from lino cuts to photo montages, that the programme was quite educational. The results can be seen at the Old Vic Tunnels from 6 to 10 June, admission free. Above is Rolf's painting showing The Coronation Coach. He wanted to create a fairy tale atmosphere and succeeded. CLICK for more pictures, videos and a BBC iPlayer repeat of the programme (7 days).

The painting you showed Coxsoft was great. Wouldn't mind it hanging on my wall. If anyone derides that man they're disgraceful; in fact, if he hasn't already got a knighthood, then give him one. He deserves it for all the happiness he has brought to people's lives.

I'm not sure he's eligible for a knighthood, having been born outside the UK. His OBE was upgraded to CBE (Commander of the Britsh Empire). He is currently styled Rolf Harris CBE, AM (an Aussie award). This year he was made a Fellow of BAFTA, which is a very high honour indeed. Did you know he was also a champion swimmer in his younger days?

He gets the nation interested in art which can only be a good thing. As for your comment Coxsoft that he might not be able to be knighted, he might have British citizenship which would allow him to be called Sir Rolf Harris. Hope he carries on presenting on the box.

No, he is Australian. Why would he want British citizenship?

Don't answer that! You'll upset my Aussie readers.
