Wolsey Angels
The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has launched an appeal to purchase four bronze Wolsey Angels created by Florentine artist Benedetto da Rovezzano between 1524 and 1529 for the tomb of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, once one of the most powerful men in England. The angels have been reunited in the V&A’s Medieval & Renaissance galleries so the public can view them. The asking price is £5 million. The National Heritage Memorial Fund has pledged £2m and the Art Fund has pledged £500,000. Half way there. CLICK for the V&A's appeal page.
