Art Lampooning Art 2
As an example of good lampooning, here's a modern rendition of Rubens' The Straw Hat (1626) by SigloV - a nom-de-mouse - starring Nicole Kidman. Putting an icon of modern beauty who ... er ... isn't ... er ... buxom above a pair of chirpy Rubens' boobs gave me a smile, as did the OTT hat from the original. Cleverly done using Photoshop, this was one of the entries in a Worth1000 competition, and it far outshines the gruesome image below. Click the title link for Worth1000. Absolutely. And doesn't she wear that hat well? Do visit Worth1000 to view the full-sized original. I think it was a competition called Modern Renditions.
