Zaha Hadid Wins

Artist's Impression - The Proposed Vilnius MuseumThe USS Starship Enterprise has landed ... in Vilnius! Where the heck is Vilnius? Never mind. Zaha Hadid Architects of London have won the competition to design a museum for Vilnius, and this artist's impression of the space-age building shows what it would look like. But it's early days. The project is still at the "feasibility study" stage. If I know anything about feasibility studies, they tend to break the bank before the project gets off the ground. But a great design.

I think it looks very sexy. I'm not sure why, but "sexy" is the first word that comes to my mind when I look at it.

I hope the project lives long and prospers. The building looks better suited for a museum to space or aeronautics. At least the design brakes from the Frank O. Gehry look.

The Guggenheim is backing it, so it stands a much better chance of being built than a lot of feasibility-study projects.

But it is an artist's impression, and a very good artist at that. Let's hope it lives up to the artwork.
